
New Orleanians watched as the Louisiana-shot “Beasts of the Southern Wild” grabbed headlines — and a grand jury prize — at January’s Sundance Film Festival. Then they watched as Fox Searchlight snapped it up for national distribution. And now, finally, they know when they’ll be able to watch the movie itself.
New Orleans filmmaker Benh Zeitlin’s surrealist drama — the darling of Sundance 2012 and, among film fans, one of the more eagerly anticipated arthouse titles of the year — has been slated for a July 6 local release, according to a studio rep.
